California House

This new house located near the coast has views to the water and surrounding natural landscape. A muted palate of bleached oak, translucent glass, limestone, and "sea-glass" tile colors references this coastal site. The central living space is a loft-like open plan with the kitchen as the nexus. A library is loosely defined by casework and floating bookshelves off of the main living room. Large expanses of windows and sliding glass walls connect the interior to the surrounding landscape. Light is sculpted throughout the house to articulate the strong formal qualities of the architecture as well as to balance out the light from outside.
