The Winebaum Residence is a two-story single-family home sited on a canyon promontory with a 270 view from the Getty Center to the Santa Monica Bay. The approach, up the oak lined drive to the simple solid entry, belies the views that unfold upon entering the house. A large light-filled double-height living room space occupies the center of the house. Each of the major downstairs spaces opens onto a garden or patio each with a different character or view. While the plan is very modern the material characteristics are warm and inviting. The house was designed with a solar panel system on the roof and environmentally safe materials were chosen wherever possible.
